1. Who we are
RecDem is a product of Skillsiya eLearning LLP, Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, India ("RecDem", "we", "us"). We are responsible for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at info@recdem.com.
This policy explains what information we collect when you visit our website, buy a licence, or use the RecDem extension, and what we do with it. We have tried to keep it plain and short of legal jargon.
2. The short version
Your recordings stay on your device. Screen recordings, face cam footage, and exported videos are processed and stored locally. We do not upload, see, store or sell them. We only handle the small amount of information needed to sell and support the product.
3. Your recordings and camera
When you record, RecDem captures your screen and, if you turn it on, your camera. This footage is handled inside your browser and saved on your own device. It is not sent to our servers, and we have no access to it.
The extension asks for your browser's permission before it can capture your screen or use your camera. You can revoke these permissions at any time in your browser settings. The zoom, cursor and click effects you set in the editor are applied on your device as well.
4. Information we collect
Purchase and licence details
When you buy RecDem, Dodo Payments, our payment provider and Merchant of Record, collects your name, email address, billing country, payment details and order history. We receive the information needed to issue and manage your licence (such as your name, email, order, and licence/activation status). We never see or store your full card number.
Support messages
If you email us, we keep your message, your email address and anything you choose to include, such as your browser version or a description of a problem, so we can help you and follow up.
Website and usage data
Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically log technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited and time of visit. We may use basic website analytics, if enabled, to understand which pages are useful. We do not use this to build advertising profiles about you.
Licence checks
To confirm that your licence is active and within its device-activation limit, RecDem may check your licence status with our payment provider. This check is used only to unlock features, not to look at your recordings.
5. What we do not collect
- The content of your recordings, your screen, your camera or your microphone;
- The websites you visit or what you type while recording;
- Your full payment card details;
- Data for advertising, or data that we would sell to third parties.
6. How we use information
- to provide the Service, issue and manage your licence and give you access;
- to process payments, send receipts and handle refunds (through Dodo Payments);
- to answer support requests and fix problems;
- to send important service messages, such as billing notices, security notes or changes to our terms;
- to keep the website and Service secure and to prevent fraud or misuse;
- to understand, in aggregate, how the website is used so we can improve it;
- to meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We use your information only when we have a valid reason: to perform our contract with you, because you have given consent, to meet legal obligations, or for our legitimate interests in running and protecting the Service.
7. Sharing and service providers
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with:
- Dodo Payments, for payments, taxes, receipts and licence management;
- Hosting, email and analytics providers that help us run the website and support, and only under duties to protect your data;
- Authorities or advisers, when required by law or to protect our rights, or to our professional advisers under confidentiality;
- A successor, if the business is ever merged, sold or reorganised (we would tell you if your data was affected).
8. Cookies
Our website is designed to work without tracking or advertising cookies. If we enable analytics, it may set limited cookies or use similar technology to measure visits, and we will keep it privacy-friendly. Dodo Payments' checkout may use cookies needed to complete your purchase, under its own privacy policy. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
9. International transfers
We are based in India, and our service providers (including Dodo Payments and hosting or email providers) may process data in other countries. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we rely on reasonable safeguards, such as contracts with those providers, to protect it.
10. How long we keep data
We keep personal data only as long as we need it: purchase and billing records for as long as tax, accounting and legal rules require; support emails for as long as needed to help you and for a reasonable period afterwards; and log or analytics data for a limited period. Recordings are on your device, so you decide how long they stay there.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we hold, and by keeping recordings on your device we avoid holding your most sensitive content at all. No system is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security. Please also protect your own device and browser account.
12. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and, where it applies, the GDPR), you may have the right to access your personal data, correct it, delete it, object to or restrict certain uses, withdraw consent, and receive a copy of your data. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
To make a request, email info@recdem.com from the address you used to buy. We may need to verify who you are, and we will reply within a reasonable time. Some billing details are held by Dodo Payments, and we may need to direct part of your request to them.
13. Children
RecDem is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). If you think a child has given us personal data, please email us and we will delete it.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, tell you by email or on our website.
